Clamor and Destruction by Meridith Couric, Paragon Times
Alessa
Lexine, Dark Fated, Mynd Field, Nicholae, Nosferesse and Stonewall Jake
all members of the Superhero group Chrysalis sponsored by the
corporation of the same name, where all that stood between the citizens
of Paragon City and disaster. It all started when Sister Pysche sensed
'a great disturbance in the natural order of our world' involving the
Freakshow and asked the members of Chrysalis here after reffered to as
by the task force code name Falcon.
Falcon soon discovered that
the Freakshow had taken a scientest and forced him to work on
perfecting a sonic wave projector. Several crews of Freaks rampaging
required the intervention of task force Falcon to contain them and they
were also able to disable some more sonic devices. In the process they
learned that the Freak leader Clamor, had defected from the Council and
taken the Sonic technology from them!.
Through many more
missions it was learned that Clamor had planted sonic devices beneath
Brickstown hoping to turn it into another Faultline! In a race against
time Task Force Falcon rushed to destroy the last of the sonic devices
using the stealthing abilities of Alessa Lexine and Dark Fated to find
them without fighing every Freakshow guarding the area they were in.
Once found Stonewall Jake served as the anvil to the hammer of Alessa
Lexine, Dark Fated, Nicholae, Nosferesse thank to the help from Mynd
Field and her protective shielding.
At last Task Force Falcon
found Clamor, who was holding five hostages. Once the hostages were
freed the face off against Clamor was brutal but over quick. Once
again Paragon City was safe thanks to Chrysalis and specifically the
members of Task Force Falcon. We caught up to Stonewall Jake as the
other quickly dispersed at the end of the task force to get a quote.
"Damn rooted can't make a fast getaway...Oh hey!....Uh a
quote.... Nosferesse defeated Clamor by herself. True story." Before
this could be clarified he was off and away flying away with a jetpack
into the night sky of the city.
Right on the heels of the Sky Raiders attack on the Terra Volta reactor, the Freakshow tried their luck. This time, the situation was much, much tighter. Hoping to stop the attack before it started, the team of Dark Fated, Piercing Stare, Nicholae and the fabulous CheshireCat hunted down both Mad Maartin and Big Marcus. Unfortunately, the assault on still proceeded, albeit at a reduced strength. This would prove to be fortuitous, for agents of wild magic nearly upset all of the fearsome foursome's endeavors. During the middle of one wave of Freakshow fodder, a bright flash caused the team to be separated in time and space. Piercing Stare, who was ducking out to recharge her coolant belt was transported back to that base, but the other three suffered a much odder fate. They were transported to a different reality, where they were not the same. With the fate of their own Paragon City weighing heavily on their minds, they made it to the Portal Corporation in order to return them to the reactor scant minutes after they disappeared. Any later and all would be lost. The Freakshow were assaulting the core with abandon and did not see the return of the four Chrysalis members. Their attack was surgical in its precision. Cheshirecat threw herself into the fray almost faster than the eye could see. Her attacks were intended to distract and confuse the battle lines, which they did with aplomb. Nicholae stepped in next, brandishing his katana he cut a swath through the ranks wide enough to drive a truck through. Reeling from this one-two punch, Dark Fated was able to put the final nail in the coffin of the Freaks' plan by demoralizing any attempts to reform their battle formation. Last but certainly not least, was Piercing Stare. Her support was invaluable in keeping her team mates alive, the reactor cooled, and the Freaks weakened. Paragon City 's citizens owe a debt of gratitude to Chrysalis.
Alessa Lexine raced to Positron on her high powered roller skates only to find him pointing her in the other direction. "The team you have assembled is too skilled for the task I have, please go see Synapse." And so the team went on to Skyway City to attempt Synapse's task. The team of seven consisted of six Chrysalis members (Equilbrian, Stonewall Jake, Nosferesse, Faris, Highland Berserker, Alessa Lexine) and one friend (Infernal Freeze). The team battled their way safely through the hundreds and hundreds of Clockwork. The team meshed well with a fantastic combination of damage, control, and healing. Faris worked hard to keep his team members alive and healthy. After what seemed like horus of destroying robots, the team was accosted by Babbage a giant clockwork monster. The team made quick work of him and went on to face the Clockwork King. The upset to the clocks was devastating. All the team members were rewarded with Synapse's appreciation and a badge for their efforts.
On a hunch the heroes of Chrysalis headed to Terra Volta to check out the reactor. Sure enough, it was about to be demolished by the Skyraiders. Nicholae, Spiny Lobster, CheshireCat, and Piercing Stare darted into the reactor room just as the Skyraiders entered. Of course the villains relied far too much on their technology and the first wave was easily beaten by the heroes. However several waves in, the Skyraiders realized that rushing wouldn't do any good against this fierce four, so they changed tactics, waiting. The Raiders hoped that if they kept the Chrysalites in the reactor long enough the radiation poison would kick in. Each member did their part to work quickly and efficiently, even reminding each other when their radiation bubble shields were wearing thin. In the end, hundreds of Sky Raiders were wounded and sent straight to the Zig and the four heroes were awarded a metal for saving the reactor. However, it is only a matter of time before the Raiders or some other group decides to attack the reactor again, hopefully Chrysalis will be near when they do!
"Be careful what you wish for." was what Piercing Stare was about to
say as she heard her compatriot bemoaning the lack of action on Talos
Island. She would have, but Manticore called before she utter the
rebuke. He called in a favor and asked Stare to investigate some
possible shady business that Crey was purported to have a hand in.
Nicholae and Cheshire Cat jumped at the opportunity to help their
fellow Chrysalis team mate; as did Mirabella, MP Blaster, and a few
others. Seems the rest of Paragon City was pretty quiet as well.
Team Basilisk (which could have been called Team Over-Eager at
times) criss-crossed Paragon City following a tenuous trail of misdeeds
(illegal research & kidnapping to name a few). The trail lead the
team close to the top of Crey's management; and, when the night was
through, the Countess' personal bodyguard Hopkins was arrested.
